As a freelance illustrator, Jefferson Miles began his career in his early teens. Shortly thereafter, he became employed as a full time props person for live theatre. Notable productions included Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard to name a few. While working in props, he became highly proficient in painting and sculpting, reproducing everything from David Hockney to Da Vinci. Miles' time in theatre gave an invaluable practical education in architecture and art history.

By late 1987, New York City was "home base". Finding endless inspiration and countless brilliant artisans and crafts people from every part of the globe. Miles was very fortunate to have an opportunity to work with some very talented individuals that enabled his continuing education, taking the theater experience into the more commercial realms of film/television, fashion, themed entertainment design as well as high end residential decorative work.

In 1999, The Walt Disney Company brought Jefferson to Los Angeles to complete several large scale scenic painting projects for their theme parks, continuing both residential and commercial commissions.
